Creativity provides the passage way to possibility thinking and change. Opening into the creative process of change is an incredible, inspiring, energetic truth of life. Being witnessed in a contained space through the process of unfolding and expansion is what makes therapy so prolific. |
As an expressive arts therapist, Kayla utilizes a multi-modal approach to integrating the arts into a therapeutic healing practice. She facilitates this unique individual process with clients through the visual arts, movement, music, drama based techniques, as well as guided imagery, ritual building and dream-work. She weaves the arts into a person-centered approach to therapy, following the client’s lead. Together, client and therapist explore what is present and create a solid and dynamic working relationship.
Kayla works with families, children, individuals and couples. Her specialty is families dealing with illness and loss, anxiety, stress and depression. She received her Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy from CIIS, completed the Academy of Guided Imagery training and is a certified doula. She has a background in hospital-based therapy, providing stress and pain management techniques to patients as well as child and family therapy in pediatrics. Kayla is also trained in emotional support for palliative care and the dying process.
Alongside her therapeutic background, Kayla has trained with Angeles Arrien, learning within a cross-cultural framework embedded in an understanding of our deep innate connection to the planet, communication techniques, rituals, and group dynamics. Through Kayla’s own relationship with the natural world, she has been able to ground her own healing journey, unlocking intergenerational trauma due to social, cultural and environmental stressors.
“I feel honored to be doing this work, to be invited into lives and witness immeasurable depth of spirit and growth of capacities. To be able to offer people a place to retreat to every week to rest, discover, or challenge themselves, is a gift I am grateful to be able to offer.”
