Rob Schene

“We must realize that we are in a trap or a labyrinth; that our character and body are armored and constricted; that there are knots and nets in various areas of our consciousness and our life.If I don’t perceive my imprisonment, my boundedness and limitations, there is really no motivation for change.”

R. Metzner

Rob believes that developing a greater awareness or consciousness is one of the keys to self-growth and liberation.  Rob has found that consciousness can begin to open and change as people come into contact with the deeper aspects of the self, which, in turn, naturally inspires the development of richer life-meaning and satisfaction.  The first step to changing consciousness is bringing awareness to all parts of the self; body, mind, spirit and the web in which we are all connected and effected by.

Rob is a passionate psychotherapist who has found himself on a path to greater awareness and aliveness in his own life.  Through his life experiences he has come to realize how powerful it has been to feel into the depths of his humanness.  As his self exploration has continued and grown, he has unearthed the realization that the unconscious, shadowy, unseen parts of the self and systems operating around him, can act as a doorway into deep growth and alignment with his truth.  He also believes that a good therapist needs to have done their own deep self-exploration in order to provide a greater understanding and capacity for others in their process.

As a therapist, his purpose is to assist you in finding ways to cultivate your own aliveness, passion, freedom, desire and love in your life.  He provides a space that is deeply understanding of the struggles that may need to be worked through in order to come into a greater understanding of one’s true nature and life force.

One of the most important parts of Rob’s work is his deep trust in the inner connectedness of all things.  He holds the belief that the personal work one does benefits all beings.  Rob has a warrior’s spirit when it comes to growth and the yearning for greater consciousness and connection.  His warrior spirit is well balanced with his warm, open hearted and nurturing nature.  Rob has a deep trust in his innate, intuitive awareness which acts as a tool, picking up on subtle cues that can lead to places that need to be looked at and opened up.  During therapy Rob will often notice the unconscious process at work, especially in the metaphors that show up in one’s stories and relationships. He can also easily shift to seeing things in a more logical, systematic lens.

Rob enjoys the many dynamics of psychotherapy, and as such, he works with individuals, children, couples, families, and groups.  His work typically focuses on attachment and systems theory, psycho-somatic or body oriented techniques, healing from trauma, mindfulness, imagery/spiritual journey work and a deep trust in a non-dualistic framework.

Rob received his Masters in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies.  He has a B.A. in psychology and also has a diverse background in nature based therapy, hypnotherapy and vipassana meditation.  Rob also has a deep love of nature and art.  He typically finds himself outside getting physical or expressing himself through his love of photography and poetry.
