Ocamora Retreat Center
Ocate, New Mexico

This land-based retreat, held in a beautiful and remote setting in the mountains of northeastern New Mexico, offers a return to natural rhythms and to our own inner landscapes. Recognizing the time-honored need for quieting the mind, it offers a safe and supportive setting for reconnecting with the inherent intelligence of the body, psyche and spirit. This is a retreat where an inquiry into the nature of the self is found in the mirror of nature.
The retreat incorporates the powerful practices of both Grof Holotropic Breathwork (visit http://www.holotropic.com/about.shtml for more info) and the time-honored shamanic journey in which we will seek out the healing influences of animal and spirit guides and cultivate the power of inner vision. Our deep journey experiences will be supported and enriched through the use of council, mindfulness practice, self-expression through art and writing, guided time in nature, and sacred ritual. The intention is to listen to the subtle wisdom of Spirit, awaken our creative spark, and discover ways to embody this inner knowledge in everyday life.
This retreat will be of value to those interested in personal regeneration, enhanced creativity and wellness, and heightened spiritual awareness. It is an excellent adjunct to therapy, as well as a powerful method of self-care for helping professionals.
Theoretical material related to the psychotherapeutic application of both the 'transpersonal’ perspective and shamanic world view will be included in breakout sessions for those attending for continuing education credit. (optional for those who are not getting CEUs).
THE SETTING:
OCAMORA is a 265-acre retreat center nestled in a high valley on the eastern slope of the Sangre de Cristo range in northern New Mexico. It occupies a mile-long valley composed of irrigated agricultural and lightly forested land, beautiful pastures, creek, year-round spring, organic apple orchard and garden, abundant wildlife, and mountain wilderness. For over 20 years Ocamora has offered its extraordinary landscape as a retreat, meditation, and educational center during the warm and stunningly green summer season. The facilities, built around a 100 year old ranch complex, offers guests an intimate and homelike experience in a setting of charm and rustic elegance. Ocamora is located two hours northeast of Santa Fe and an hour east of Taos.
This is a place where one can deeply relax and feel the impact of wilderness.

TRANSPORTATION:
The Ocamora Retreat Center is located in Mora County of northeastern New Mexico. The retreat center is about 1.5 hours from Santa Fe or 3 hours from Albuquerque driving north on interstate 25. It is 1.5 hour from Taos which is due west of Ocamora. It is in a remote location without access to public transportation.
Many participants like to spend some time in Santa Fe on either end of the trip. It is easy to catch a shuttle into Santa Fe from the airport on Scandia Shuttle Service.
We do our best to coordinate ride shares and encourage participants to share the costs of car rental. While you are at the retreat you will not need a car at all. Usually, there are several people arriving around the same time in Albuquerque or are visiting Santa Fe with rental cars. There are often a couple of folks who live in the area driving up to the retreat who offer a ride. As the date draws near we try to connect participants with similar travel plans so that they may share in the rental car.
If you want to ride share, it is important to communicate with us as you plan your travel. If you are flying in the day of the retreat (Monday, June 5) you should try to get a flight that will land no later than noon or 1 p.m.. That will allow plenty of time for getting up to Ocamora. If you are planning a return flight on Saturday, June 12, please try to schedule a flight that leaves no earlier than 5:30 p.m. to preserve your full time at the retreat.
Please note that travel costs to and from the retreat are not included in the fee. We will work closely with you to help plan the easiest and most economical travel. No one will find themselves "stuck".

What past participants are saying:
"Since I have long been engaged in deep process work, I felt open but skeptical that “The Healing Journey” could offer anything that new or significant for me. By the end of 5 days of shamanic journeys and holotropic breathwork, I had discovered lost parts of myself, supportive spirit guides, and renewed direction, energy and enthusiasm for my personal and professional life. I am excited about the possibilities that this work has opened up for me."
Royda C. Psychologist, Columbia, MO
"This retreat was a true journey towards my soul. The land, the leadership, the food and the pace of the retreat were all extremely well-orchestrated to support my healing on the deepest level. I am incredibly grateful for this experience."
Jessica W., Psychotherapist, San Rafael, CA
"….I want to thank both of you for providing such a fun, in depth and meaningful workshop at Ocamora. I enjoyed the whole experience and came away changed in meaningful ways."
Fritz. S. Osteopath and Zero Balancer, Borrego Springs, CA
"Ocamora was my first spiritual retreat so I went with few expectations. I left more relaxed with a more open heart and spirit as well as new friends."
D.G. Commercial airline pilot, CA
"Ocamora is a portal into an enchanted Universe, where time and space is unbounded, where you feel gently held by the magical surrounding mountains and cradled deeply by the endless skies. It is here I discovered the rest of a lifetime, perhaps more. Ocamora is a most beautiful gift for the soul."
Laurie M. Psychotherapist, Mill Valley, CA
