This on-going practice group for psychotherapists meets twice a month in an intimate Marin (Mill Valley) meditation space. This is a group for people who have some experience with shamanic journeying and are dedicated to practicing the technique in a small group format that supports the inner development of the practitioner. The structure of the group is typically a focused meditation, shaping of intention, and a longer journey. After our journeys there is reflection upon the material that is arising. Various themes and core shamanic techniques will be gently introduced in resonance with the group process. The intention is that as a group we will go deeper into our shamanic practices, using our journeys to support and strengthen our work in the world. The journeys and meditations will reflect the time and place in the wheel of the year cycle.
Further details provided upon inquiry. Interview required for admission.

Healing Earth:
a therapy group for transforming our pain for the planet
America Worden, MA, MFT Intern
1st and 3rd weeks starting in September 2010 (day will be determined by the availability of participants)
8 weeks
Fee: $240 (8 sessions, including one day-long nature retreat)
It is difficult to keep our hearts open in this time of great planetary turmoil-- as Earth heats up, ecosystems collapse and our community systems break down under the strain of our lifestyle. And yet, when we cut ourselves off from our feelings, we loose touch with our connection to our planet and ourselves. The changes that must be made within and around us can only happen through finding the courage to open our eyes and hearts.
In this therapy group, we will explore the ways we stop ourselves from living fully in relationship to our planet and ourselves. We will work with the deep emotions beneath our anxiety and paralysis towards what is happening in the world. We will tap into our profound interconnectedness with life and look at how the Earth’s destruction effects our inner life and stories. We will discover resources of strength through these connections. And we will unlock the joy and freedom of feeling and seeing our way deeper into our lives and our world.
The group process draws from Gestalt therapy, Ecopsychology and the work of Joanna Macy. We will meet twice monthly for 4 months, with one daylong retreat outdoors.
